  • Biodynamic Agriculture Festival of the Americas

Dear Community

We are pleased to share with you that the VI National Meeting of Biodynamic Agriculture will be held from the 18th to the 21st of September, 2019 in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.

This year, in addition to holding the national conference, Mexico has the honor of hosting the XXXIV Latin American Meeting of Biodynamic Agriculture, which will be the first time this conference will take place outside of South and Central America.

This convergence between Latin American countries is of paramount importance to the strengthening and growth of the biodynamic community in the North and South American continents. We therefore consider it of the utmost importance to extend the invitation of participation to the Biodynamic Associations of the United States and Canada.

The Biodynamic Agriculture Festival of the Americas, is an unprecedented continental event; it is a Festival in the deepest sense that we have known in recent history.

"Festivals not only commemorate great historical events but are in themselves spiritual events that make visible the imaginings of cosmic rhythms and bring with them intuitions of how to deepen personal inner life and indicate how to carry this to community life."

"A festival has the ability to take us out of the ordinary and lead us to the mysteries of the rhythms of the seasons, therefore, the great festivals exist to bear witness to our connection to the whole universe."

Rudolf Steiner

Biodynamic Agriculture Festival of the Americas, 2019
“The Human Being and the Rhythms of Nature”
September 18th to 21st
San Miguel de Allende, GTO. México.

1. Leading Thought

Leading thoughts mark the central theme of each day's work and are taught by teacher Dennis Klocek. In these sessions, participants are led through various experiences that can be used to build a personal relationship with the rhythms of nature as a conscious human being.

2. Ritual

A ritual ceremony is a sacred space of collective participation where a subtle transformation of being is experienced; therefore, the conscious individual participation is fundamental to this process. During the festival, we will work with the basic ideas of the spiritual intention of the individual and how this is linked to the community as a whole.

Our intention is to improve our healing process and provide another image of ritual thought that allows us to perceive and integrate the rhythms of nature and agriculture.

When you register, you will receive a special task to bring to the festival.

3. Elemental Spheres

The elemental spheres are containers to participate in practical workshops, each one related to one of the four elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire.

When you register for the festival, you will be randomly assigned to one of the elemental spheres, and throughout the whole festival, you will be part of this sphere, and you will have access to three distinct workshops each day. The intention of this dynamic is that in the next editions of this festival, you can participate in a different sphere so that each year you can delve into a sphere until you complete all four.

Spheres and workshops for the 2019 Festival:
Air - Animal

  • 1. Healing the Earth with Bees.
  • 2. Holistic Shepherding.
  • 3. Threefoldedness and the Animal Kingdom.

Fire - To Be Human
  • 1. The 12 Senses and the Seven Life Processes.
  • 2. Developing a Personal Relationship with the Farm Individuality.
  • 3. Healing with the Zodiac.

Water - Plant
  • 1. Substance and Process, Making a Remedy.
  • 2. Cosmic and Earthly Polarities.

4. Polycultural Market

We create a space of convergence between agriculture and its fruits, education, medicine, and the arts.
We will start with a ceremony of Fire where there will be different types of food, cooks, chefs, artisans, music, and other forms of art. Spaces of healing, brief conferences, and presentations of initiatives and projects.

5. Cultural Events

In this festival, we recognize the importance of incorporating the arts and especially the music within the healing process, with the rhythms of the earth. During our event, there will be musical moments throughout the day.

6. Children

The young generations long to find the spirit of nature, the warmth in community life, and the living wisdom in their teachers and mentors. Therefore, integrating the enthusiasm that lies within these generations is fundamental inside the Festival, as is recognizing children and youth as simultaneously both members and teachers. There will be a special space for children and youth with its own rhythm and program.

7. Bridging the Americas

The Bridging the Americas initiative seeks to cultivate an inspiring ground in which we strengthen collaboration and bridges between the different biodynamic communities of the Americas. We consciously strive to cultivate Anthroposophy as a living spiritual science and nurture the heart culture as the foundation for the renewal of agriculture.
